VidiU encoder settings for streaming to Facebook Live
Last Updated 6 years ago
Facebook Live has strict requirements for the encoded audio and video settings.
These encoding settings are subject to change, but the current limits are listed on this page:
https://www.facebook.com/facebookmedia/get-started/live
As of March 2018, Facebook will officially accept the following maximum settings:
Preset Settings
For convenience, you can use the following preset options with the built-in Facebook integration on the VidiU or VidiU Pro:
Custom Settings
If you're choosing custom settings, make sure that the video resolution, video bitrate, audio bitrate and frame rate all are within Facebook's guidelines.
Configuration Notes:
1) the Continuous Live Streaming option is Disabled as the default setting. Do not change this setting unless you have read Facebook's documentation on Continuous Live Streams and how this can affect your stream -- no Video on Demand is saved for later playback, no notifications are sent to followers, and no metrics are collected, as described in this article: https://www.facebook.com/facebookmedia/get-started/live
2) do not choose the "Full HD" video setting which corresponds to 1920x1080 resolution and a 5 Mbps video bitrate, or higher than Medium for the Audio Quality. If choosing a Custom video resolution, video bitrate, or audio bitrate do not select options that are different from Facebook's published guidelines.
Choosing video resolution or video bitrate values that are higher than Facebook's maximum published settings, or audio bitrate values which are higher or lower than Facebook's setting of 128 kbps could cause issues with stream quality or stability.
