Metering for video: Calculating your digital video camera’s ISO
Last Updated 7 years ago

When shooting with a video camera, you will usually need to have measurements taken in either footcandles (fc) or Lux. The only current Sekonic meter capable of producing these units is the L-558 Cine. Previous models with fc/Lux readings include the L-608, L-608 Cine and the L-508 Cine. Typical light levels when shooting video will range between 28-150 fc (300-1600 lux), but this will depend on the sensitivity of the camera's pickup device. Once the camera's performance is different light levels is known, your measurements can be used to adjust things like aperture, fill light, back light and contrast ratios.
